Crete stays as unique as you are

Accommodation In Crete\n

Crete is not just another Greek island paradise; you’ll also discover a bustling metropolitan city, rugged landscapes, ancient history and unique culture when you stay with us in one of our Crete Hotels.

Things to do

Crete, which is the largest island in Greece and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean, has everything all wrapped up into one. Although part of Greece, Crete has unique traditions and character as well as a different dialect from the rest of the country. However, English is spoken widely throughout the island and the locals are friendly, which is perfect if you want a relaxing holiday.

Culture and history

If you’re keen for a history lesson, the best of many archaeological sites in Greece can be found in Crete, such as the Palace of Knossos which is one of the more flamboyant ruins and the source of many Greek mythology stories, and Phastosis, which is the second largest palace on the island. Stop at the legendary cave where Zeus was said to have been born and discover the home of the Minotaur and King Minos, who is arguably the most famous Cretan of all time.

Events

The Cretans know how to party; there are a number of festivals and events throughout the year particularly to celebrate wine, harvest and culture. If you decide to visit during February, you will enjoy the Rethymno Carnival, which celebrates the Cretan culture and runs until the beginning of March – it’s the second biggest festival in the country.

Getting here and around

A direct flight from Athens only takes about one hour; however many other European countries fly directly to Crete as well. It’s also easy to catch a ferry from several of the surrounding countries if you’ve got time on your side. Once you’re on the island, there are plenty of public transport options if you don’t want to hire a car, so it’s easy to get around.

With all of this in mind, make sure you put Crete on the must-do list for your next European getaway and stay in our Crete accommodation for a fabulous break you’ll enjoy.
