It couldn’t be easier to relax in the quiet holiday village of Harrington. Whether you’re taking a weekend away or passing through on a road trip along the NSW coast, Harrington and the nearby town of Crowdy Head offer plenty of fishing, swimming and bushwalking opportunities. Not to mention the stunning beauty of Crowdy Bay National Park! With no skyscrapers or shopping malls, but enough general stores, cafes and pubs to keep you refreshed, a trip to Harrington is a chance to get away from it all. Make your great escape with one of our Harrington hotels.
Harrington Beach is part of the 431-hectare Harrington Beach State Park, which also has coastal wetlands and rainforest to explore. The beach’s uncrowded stretch of sand goes all the way from Harrington to Crowdy Head, and is popular for fishing, surfing and long walks on the beach (if that’s your thing). For a safe swimming location, the Harrington Lagoon is away from the beach and you can get there by taking a short walk through the rainforest, entering from Crowdy Street.
Next to the Lagoon is one of the most beautiful spots in Harrington and one of the best spots for fishing and walking: Harrington Breakwall. You can fish from the breakwall itself or take a boat out on the Manning River – there are even fish cleaning facilities available on the shore. On Beach Street is Harrington Hotel, a historic pub on the river’s shores where you can make like a local and enjoy a drink, a great meal and even some live music or bingo. Elsewhere, Harrington also has an Irish pub, a selection of river-side restaurants and a nine-hole golf course surrounded by wetlands.
Crowdy Bay National Park is one of the best reasons to stay in Harrington. With uncrowded beaches, sand dunes and rainforests, and the unusual rock formations of Diamond Head, it’s a blissfully scenic place for a spot of swimming, walking or whale-watching. The Crowdy Bay Lighthouse is a small lighthouse on a lush green hill with picnic facilities, overlooking the ocean and coastline. It was built in 1878 and has an information board telling you all about its history.
Harrington is one hour’s drive from Port Macquarie, so if you’re too far to go by car then book your cheap flight to Port Macquarie with us. Choose from our range of Harrington accommodation and you’ll leave relaxed, refreshed and, depending on your angling skills, possibly fat with fish too!
