Jetstar may only be a young airline, but it has made a huge impact on the way Australians travel ever since its epic launch in 2004. It's even had stars like Magda Szubanski jumping for joy. Jetstar is owned by Qantas, meaning it provides world-class standard service to its passengers, but is independently managed and offers a high standard of service at extremely affordable prices. What all of this means for you is that when you fly Jetstar, you ride in comfort - with plenty of leg room - and have access to delicious meals, refreshing beverages and the latest release onboard entertainment options. Jetstar also has one of the highest performance rates for being on-time, and all of this is offered with a friendly smile.

Jetstar exploded on the airline scene in May of 2004 and has proven to be focused on providing customers with affordable and comfortable service. Jetstar prides itself on its cost effective operation that offers a range of destinations flown with its brand new fleet of A320's. Jetstar is wholly owned by Qantas with its operations based in Melbourne. This association with one of the worlds leading airlines ensures all passengers receive the highest quality service, while its separate management allows Jetstar the freedom to offer the cheapest possible flights possible.
Jetstar flies to most capital cities in Australia, including Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Darwin and Perth as well as many east coast regional centres, including Cairns, Townsville, the Gold Coast and Newcastle. Jetstar also flies internationally and includes countries such as The United States, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. As Jetstar will soon be increasing its fleet to include the Airbus 330, which has a capacity for more passengers and a larger range, Jetstar may soon be flying to a greater number of destinations around the world from Australia.
Jetstar will soon implement StarClass with its new aircraft (the Airbus 330), a premium cabin service that provides passengers a more spacious flight and includes in flight beverages, meals and snacks as a part of the service. StarClass passengers will also receive an equivalent number of frequent flier points as Qantas Business Class passengers. The StarClass premium service will allow Jetstar to compete with major airlines more effectively, and may result in cheaper fairs for all passengers.
Jetstar also has in flight beverages and snacks available for sale on domestic flights and on international flights passengers can choose from a wide selection and prepay their meal when booking the flight.
You can also watch movies, cartoons, music videos or listen to music for a small fee on domestic flights, using a similar system to Qantas flights - Video on Demand. This allows each passenger to select what they view or listen to, stop play, pause and fast-forward as they please.
Jetstar currently flies with a fleet mainly consisting of the Airbus 320's (24) and a few Boeing 717's (6). These comfy and stylish aircraft carry around 180 passengers on gorgeous leather seats in the widest cabin of any single-aisled aeroplane - with the extra room allowing each passenger to have the most relaxed flight possible. This wonderful fleet has allowed Jetstar to maintain an on-time performance of around 86%, rivalling the performance of some of the larger airlines.
