Who is Flip Byrnes?

Yes, for all those armchair travellers who like to live vicariously though others we've found a young lady who is ready to put her life on the line and travel the globe reporting on destinations as far flung as Iceland, New York, Siberia and Colorado. It's a hard job, but someone had to do it and seeing as we here at travel.com are busy actually working we have enlisted the help of the one and only "global trotteuse" Flip Byrnes to inspire you on where to go next.

Twice a month she'll be sending hot-off-the-press reports from anywhere in the globe, she could be doing the tango in Soho, climbing Mt Blanc, joining in a kissing festival in France, unearthing bargains in London or looking for nachos in Moscow. For this intrepid reporter adventure beckons and travel treasures are waiting to be unearthed. She will also be joined by Cedric, her faithful 1974 2CV car for the European leg.

So who is this fair damsel? A descendant of the Antarctic explorer Frank Hurley Flip was cursed to travel. A self confessed powder hound who began a Masters in Marketing on snowboarding, she went to Switzerland for research and never came back. She has now boarded 144 resorts in 4 continents and when not searching for fine lines has been climbing mountains in Kashmir and walked across Spain on foot. She dreams of an all - over tan, walking to the south pole and a buffet of unlimited seafood. A travel writer of 6 years she writes for over 20 publications including The Guardian UK, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Sunday Telegraph. She will be reporting for many publications during this time, so we'll catch her in between gigs.
