I returned to Melbourne from Nairobi Kenya on Emirates Airlines two weeks ago and discovered, to my joy, that they had individual television screens, 18 video channels, 14 games, and about 18 audio channels.
Two of the video channels were a forward facing camera and a downward facing camera which meant that I saw a takeoff and landing closeup for the first time in decades of flying. The individual options made such a difference to the flight. Absolutely fantastic addition. All of this on Emirates great round-the-world fare (booked through travel.com.au of course!). I've become a Skywards frequent flyer and I'll be flying Emirates again. It's about time economy passengers got a thought.
For the last couple of years
I've been taking an extra blow-up neck pillow to use under my feet for exercising
to avoid DVT. Someone has seen an entrepreneurial opportunity and devised a
new product for this. Emirates gave every passenger a complementary Airogym
- a two segment blow-up pillow designed specifically for foot and forearm exercises
during long flights/drives. Works as well as the extra neck pillow and folds
up slightly smaller. Worth a look.
