My recent 'holiday' in Spain was not as relaxing as I'd expected, and so on the spur of the moment, I decided to spend my remaining four days 'recovering' elsewhere. To my pleasant surprise I found 'just what the Doctor ordered' at Web Site www.reppert.de (click here), so if you 'want a holiday within a holiday' - the Hotel Reppert in Hinterzarten is THE PLACE for you.......

Firstly, getting there is simple - high speed trains leave from Frankfurt Airport (Intercity train station) just about every hour to/via Freiburg. From there a 7 minute interchange to a local train puts you on the 25 minute scenic ride to Hinterzarten and the Black Forest. Along the way there are truly quaint name places such as Himmelreich' ('Heaven') and 'Titisee' (untranslatable).

Upon arrival at Hinterzarten station you can either catch a taxi outside of the "Schwarzwalder Hof" or walk the 150 meters to Hotel Reppert (there is a large Town Plan map board right opposite the Schwarzwalder Hof" in case you need directions to any other Hotels (or Pensions) in Hinterzarten.

The Hotel Reppert is characterised by the 'last word' in state of the art 'water therapies' (or 'Kurorts', cure-places). It boasts three swimming pools (2 indoor salt and fresh water), a hydro-bath, spa-pool, odorium, adventure shower, sauna, steam baths, and much more.

Upon arrival at the 65 years established and family run Hotel Reppert, you'll be warmly greeted by the energetic and knowledgable Herr Reppert, who speaks english fluently and is very 'Internet savvy'.

Your hotel room choice can be supplemented on the basis of 'half board' or 'full board' (I had half board which included a full breakfast and a five course dinner menu in the very elegant dining room). All rooms are fully renovated, self contained, and lavishly appointed, with pleasant views over the town, fields and/or forest. .

Take it from me......nothing beats a three hour walk in the Black Forest on one of the many well marked trails, then to come back to Hotel Reppert and luxuriate in the soothing water treatments to cure you of any of those body aches and pains. You can finally cap this off with a five course dinner! - makes it all worth while....doesn't it ?
