Just Back From ...

Las Vegas

By Meg Corbett

OK people. You have to do it. I will not stand by and let you pass this place off as the vortex of all that is sinful and trashy (despite the glorious fact that it is!). You must accept it for it's completely unnecessary and garish nature and go. Run, don't walk. Grab your Elvis CD's, a potential marriage partner, your wallet, some rhinestones, a gamblin' man and get on a plane and head straight for Viva Las Vegas!

I was in Vegas for 5 nights and it simply wasn't enough time to take full advantage of the infamous strip full of scaled down world cities, a multitude of casinos, ample late night shows, and well... did some one yell 'all you can eat'? Hell this place has buffets enough to keep your dessert plate full as your wallet seems to empty at the hand of those crafty crap tables.

But do you care? Of course not. It's Vegas! The thrill of the chase is why you go. Whether chasing that million dollar dream, a ring on your finger or all 20 Elvis Presleys. This truly is the town to suspend reality for a while. In just one hour you can visit New York New York for a great prime rib (while you gamble), Paris for delectable pastry delights (while you gamble), the Venetian for a romantic in-house gondola ride (after you gamble) and even Ancient Rome for Celine Dion? Well, there are other reasons to visit Caesar's Palace (like, the gambling!).

If we're talking 'must do's', make sure while there you stop outside the luxurious Bellagio Hotel for it's spectacular fountain show. Set to a diverse range of fantastically clichéd tunes, it plays to wowed audiences for free each half hour. I was lured 3 times over! And, you MUST take a helicopter ride over the Hoover Dam and into the Grand Canyon. The experience is simply unforgettable and awe inspiring... and if you are nice enough to your pilot you can do as I did and take the steering stick for a while! It'll throw your senses, but it's totally worth it.

People. Elvis the King celebrated this phenomena for a reason. Viva Las Vegas is everything you fear and more than you can imagine. Do it. You wont regret it.
