

In case you haven't heard, New Zealand is a beautiful country. Travelling through the North Island should start at the top. Cape Rienga is the northern-most tip of New Zealand, where oceans collide and you feel as if you are standing on the edge of the world. Rotorua boasts abundant thermal activity, beneficial for the therapeutic qualities of its mud baths and hot springs, and intriguing for the energetic forces brewing in its foundation. Great for camping! A strong Maori presence also makes this an enlightening centre for observing traditional ceremony, arts and philosophy. The highlight of the North Island however is a more immersing experience. The Waitomo Caves offers a range of tours to discover its magic and mystery. In an intimate group, and equipped with a wetsuit, a giant donut and two comical guides, you could be lured into the darkness of the caves, wading through the icy water, surrounded by hundreds of luminous glow worms. Despite it seclusion, it feels as infinite as sitting on the ocean under a starry sky. It is truly brilliant.
The South Island lays claim to pinnacle of New Zealand the massive snow capped Mount Cook. Standing at the edge of the mountain you are encompassed by its colossal proportions and spectacular surroundings. Equally impressive is the majesty of Milford Sound. The remote stretch of water requires a day trip, however cruising the tranquil waters encircled by sheer cliffs, teeming waterfalls and sunbathing seal colonies justify the detour. Of course, New Zealand really flexes it's muscle in Queenstown - the adrenalin capital. With extreme action from bungy jumping to jet boating, Queenstown is itself a rush. But for the best fun, value and expansive views you have to do the Gondola and Luge. Take the slow carriage up the mountain face, and then fly down the winding track in your own Luge. The ride is addictive and the expansive coastal scenery heightens the fantastic experience.
New Zealand is an engaging country overflowing with places to immerse yourself in. Visit the neighbors across the ditch for a taste of Kiwi culture, and you'll be back for more.
