The Gold Coast

by Roula Seferlis

The majority of Australians have been to the Gold Coast at some point in their life, for me it was the first time, and I enjoyed it very much!

I stayed at the Chateau Beachside apartments, right in the centre of Surfers, and close to everything!

The apartments have been recently refurbished and the one bedroom that I stayed in was quite spacious, with nice living room area and fully equipped kitchen, ensuite and double bed. Also has beautiful ocean views. The only thing I wish it had was a larger balcony, nevertheless you can still check out the view on the edge of the tiny balcony. The property has a large swimming pool area, spa, sauna, steam room and a tennis court. I do recommend it as it is great value, and you will enjoy your stay there.

What is the first thing you do at the Gold Coast? Well of course visit the Theme parks! We hired a car and made our own way there, but practically every hotel offers transfers or you can pre book them with your travel agent, and it's easy to get there and back. I went to Movie World, Sea World and Dream World. All of them were great fun, with plenty of rides to enjoy. I especially loved the shows at Sea World and the highlight was when I saw the polar bears! They are magnificent animals. The entry fee at these parks is $56 per adult, however you can get a 3 Park Super Pass for $150.00 per adult, that includes Sea World, Wet 'n' Wild Water World and Movie World. Children and senior prices also apply.

While you are at the Gold Coast, there are plenty more things you can do. Try Bungee Jumping, Skydiving, Go Karts, Put Put mini golf, go on a cruise and much more.

One thing I did and definitely recommend everyone to try is the new attraction "Infinity' www.infinitygc.com.au Located at the new Chevron Renaissance centre at Surfers Paradise. It is hard to describe, it is like a maze, and all the different rooms are surrounded by mirrors, with effects and different lights. You have to find your own way through the maze and it takes you into this completely different world. It is mind-blowing! A walk through attraction that last's about half an hour. There are special effects, music and illusions that go all the way to infinity. You will definitely be amazed at this experience! Fun for all ages. I was so glad I tried it!

Well that's all from my trip, next time you are in need of a break just head for sunny Gold Coast..!
