Universal Studios

by Tracey

They say that you need 2 days to get around Disneyland , but i would rather spend them at Universal Studios in Hollywood. From the moment we got off the Pacific Coast Tour bus, we were greeted with a giant cage type globe water feature. I would think one of the most photographed objects in the world .

There is also a "City Walk" alongside the Theme Park, where you will find specialty shops ranging from toys, movie collectables,to actual movie theatres and restaurants. So leave about 1 hour of your tour time to check this out ! I took my two daughters , my mother and my older sister, and believe me , there was definately something for people of all ages.

The famous "Backlot" tram tour first , to help us get our bearings. As we travelled around the park, we saw Jaws, Pshyco's haunted house,The Grinch Village and we also saw them building the giant walls from the Jurassic Park 3 movie. WOW !! The other rides were just as amazing. Being one of those unlucky people that suffers from motion sickness,i am usually the one who stays behind to take the pictures. But !! I went on every single ride there was , from Jurassic Park (fabulous), E.T Adventure (cute) and BackDraft (excellent), to the Back to the Future simulator ride.

Not only does Universal have rides, it is full of live shows such as the Waterworld re-enactment type show, where they fly, yes fly , a waterplane into the centre stage (which is actually a mini lake) to find "dryland". Because there are so many different things to see and do, i really recommend setting aside 2 days to see the whole park. They do have a special where you can buy 1 consecutive day for only $5.00 US. Take it!!

We stayed in Anaheim at the Howard Johnson Hotel ,which was great, as it was across the road from the tour bus depot and Disneyland. The Tour was approx 11 hours long and was worth every cent of the $150AUS.The bus driver even took us home via the famous Mullholland Drive, and what a view we had of Hollywood at Night.
