USA & Canada

By Sarah Piggott

On the 29th of March my boyfriend and I departed on our much needed holiday. We flew with Canada 3000 to Toronto for the first half of our trip which included Toronto, Niagara Falls and best of all NEW YORK!!! As it was absolutely freezing in Toronto we spent most of our time indoors shopping along the trendy and colourful Queen Street and then in the huge Eaton Centre.

After Toronto we caught a Greyhound bus to New York. New York was everything I expected it to be... big, exciting, over the top and very busy. We stayed at the Portland Hotel which is close to everything including Time Square & Rockefeller Centre. We did all the touristy things like visiting the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, walking along Wall Street, took in the amazing views from The Empire State Building, Ice skating in Central Park, visited the zoo, shopping in SoHo and Greenwich Village. We even went on the Late Show with David Letterman - Hugh Grant and Sade were the guests. We missed out on the Rosie Show, but did a tour of the sets of Friends, NYPD, Seinfield, The Cosby Show and The Nanny. Our tour guide filled us in all all the little bits of gossip about the rich and famous. Overall New York was Awesome.

We then headed back to Toronto visiting Niagara Falls on the way. It was probably the wrong time to visit Niagara as the falls were not at their peak and the Maid of the Mist was not running, the town was like a ghost town just waiting for the busy season to start again.

To conclude our trip we flew out of Toronto to spend a whole week in Hawaii. For a whole 7 days we did nothing but laze on Waikiki beach and next to the hotel pool drinking Mai Tais and Pina Colada's. Very lazy but absolutely wonderful.
