The United Kingdom (UK) is one of the busiest travel destinations in the world. That means there is plenty of competition between airline operators wanting to give you the best flight deals.
The UK encompasses England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. All flights require a stop over because of the sheer length of the trip. Operators flying from Australia include Qantas, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, British Airways, Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific.
Most of the major international airlines offer flights to all parts of the UK. Some of the airlines flying to Great Britain include Air Canada, China Airlines, Emirates, Thai Airways, Japan Airlines, and American Airlines.
Around 60 million passengers travel through Heathrow airport each year. So it goes without saying, security is extremely tight. You will most probably land in Heathrow from Australia. You can fly into Heathrow most days of the week. International travellers use Terminal 1 and must travel through the red / green customs channels.
Another busy airport, around 18 million passengers will travel through Manchester gates per year. Qantas flies into Manchester up to seven days a week, usually via Bangkok or Singapore.
Birmingham primarily services domestic flights. You can land there via Qantas, although services aren’t as regular as the bigger airports.
Most airlines will land in Heathrow then you will board a domestic carrier into Glasgow.
If you’re a budget traveller, book a ticket between February and March. You’ll save a considerable amount of money flying then.
There is a wealth of things to do in the United Kingdom - here’s a sample.
