This area is gaining popularity amoung surfers and offers relatively uncrowded waves. For those wanting to travel through some culturally rich areas away from the main tourism regions West Java is definately worth the trip.

May to October (dry season) is the best time of year for surf. Offshore winds can almost be guaranteed during this time with 5-6 foot waves common, but there can be 12 foot+ waves at times. The wet season (November to April) has unpredictable conditions but can be really good, just not as often as the dry season.
The swell direction is usually south-westerly. Because of a sandbar at the mouth of the small Cimaja river, the 1.2 – 1.8m swell provides good waves, with a long barrel every so often. The waves in West Java are really underrated. They are some of the best in Indo – it’s just a matter of timing.
The main surf break in Pelabuhan Ratu is named Cimaja. It is a right reef break that holds heavy swell.
Other spots like Turtles and Ombak Tujuh at Genteng are also awesome breaks that’ll make your trip to West Java unforgettable.
If you are keen to explore, there are at least another ten surf breaks in the region of Pelabuhan Ratu in West Java.

Pondok Kencana Ocean Resort (Cimaja Cottages) is located on the south west coast of Java, in Pelabuhan Ratu, 150km from Jakarta. The resort is in a prime location, across the road from two righthanders, a beach break and a point break.
