Just Back From Europe

on Emirates Business Class

by Anne Kimble

You know you are in the right place for the long haul to London when you get on the plane and someone offers you a glass of Champagne! And so begins travelling Business Class with Emirates. The luxury actually begins in the lounge at Sydney airport. A large spacious room with comfy couches, a great range of food and beverages plus a view out onto the tarmac. For me it is much better fun watching planes come and go in the twilight than wandering aimlessly through the duty free, but maybe that is just me.

In my first experience of flying Business Class, everything was new and exciting and it did take a while to get the hang of all the great gadgets. Getting my seat into the most comfortable position took a few minutes, and several adjustments throughout the flight, but when you can go from upright to almost flat, there is a lot of options. The in flight entertainment system is also excellent. Over 600 channels to choose from, including latest release movies, old classics like Casablanca, TV re-runs, radio, cds and every number 1 from the UK charts from 1960 to now. There really is something for everyone. The best gadget though has to be the in-seat massager. That really does take the edge off the long haul flight!!

The in flight catering is also something to rave about. A silver service three course meal. Linen napkins and table cloths, proper crockery and cutlery and finishing touches like a fresh flower on the tray. Great choices of food and excellent wine. Everything is fresh. But the dessert trolley that is rolled around is something else! Desserts, fruit, cheese, Godiva chocolates. You need the extra wide seats of business class with all this eating.

The cabin is spacious, and there is a great amount of room to move about and stretch out.

I traveled via Dubai, which has a large lounge, but this was busy to the point of over-crowded on the Saturday before Christmas. Not restful or relaxing. It made me appreciate the plane that little bit more.

All in all a great experience which will make going back to Economy class very difficult indeed!
