Argentina is subject to different climates in different regions as a result of its longitudinal and elevation amplitudes. The climate in Argentina is mainly temperate, the winter being cool and the summer being hot and humid, along with extremes ranging from subtropical in the north to subpolar in the far south. The north of the country is characterized by very hot, humid summers with mild drier winters, and is subject to periodic droughts.
