Mexico travel guide

Mexico has some fantastic tourist destinations for world travellers, with some areas of interest being Acapulco, Mexico City and Cancun. Its warm climate makes it ideal for some fun in the sun during the warmer months and the more temperate spring and autumn provides the perfect opportunity for travellers to wander the countryside on foot.

Mexico Hotels and Accommodation

There is a variety of accommodation to be found in Mexico, particularly in the areas surrounding the main tourist destinations such as Acapulco, Mexico City and Cancun. However, you should plan and book your trip and accommodation early, as many tourists from the United States (especially during Spring Break) tend to fill the vacancies extremely quickly. Mexico: Places to See and Things to Do

Some of the best places to visit in Mexico include the following:

  • Acapulco – The second largest city in Mexico (after Mexico City) is a brilliant place for resorts, high-rise buildings, beaches lagoons and jungles. This mix of city and natural beauty make the city one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico.
  • Chihuahua-Pacífic Railway – This scenic train line runs 655km from Los Mochis to Chihuahua through with excellent scenery, tunnels and canyons the whole way.
  • Mexico City – This is the world’s third largest city after Tokyo and New York, with a population on 18 million. This makes the city an ideal stop for tourists, with sights, sounds and culture wherever you go. The best time to visit is during October, when the city is at its best and the crowds aren’t too overwhelming like they are during the Christmas and New Years period.

Mexico: Climate

The climate in Mexico is quite varied, from arid regions in the north, temperate forests in central Mexico (Mexico City for instance) and tropical forests in the south. The best time for travellers to venture to Mexico is between October and May due to both the climate and because the local population generally does their travelling around New Years and Christmas time.

Mexico Visa Requirements

Visitors travelling from many western countries such as Australia, New Zealand, the United States and most other western European countries are permitted to enter Mexico with out a visa. However for stays longer than 3 days travellers must attain a Government Tourist Card, which is valid for up to 180 days. The cards are available at local Embassies and Consulates or at boarder crossings.
