Underwhelming
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who handed us the key card. However, throughout our stay, we didn’t encounter any other staff members. The room was clean but was tired and worn, with a noticeable water stain on the ceiling. The shower force was reminiscent of a spray head on a watering can, with the water spraying from various directions except the head itself. No toilet role holder, no toilet brush.
Despite paying for a balcony room, it was disappointing to find it covered in pigeon droppings, keen to avoid an avian respiratory infection we decided not to use it. Attempts to contact the “24hr reception” for the WiFi password were unsuccessful, leaving us disconnected. The room itself didn’t have a phone, which is a first for any hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The lack of air conditioning or temperature control made the room uncomfortably hot, forcing us to keep the balcony door open all night for ventilation, even in early March. Furthermore, an unexpected TV activation at 6 am startled us awake. Overall, the experience was basic at best. Managing expectations is key; don’t anticipate much, and you won’t be let down.
