amazingly quiet for a busy location

Pros: The courtyard and the food were both delightful and the staff was super friendly.
Cons: Screens on the windows would be nice for fresh air without bugs, but I don't think they are common in Nepal.
Location: Thamel is pure chaos, but good people watching and plenty of places to eat. Kathmandu is really just some place to enter Nepal.
The Dalai-La is a nice boutique hotel in a chaotic tourist part of Kathmandu. It's amazingly quiet. Our room was comfortable and clean. The included breakfast buffet was not super appealing to me, but then I figured out you could order off the breakfast menu which was much more to my taste. The food was very good. We ate dinner there too.
