Accommodation Near Narita Intl. Airport

If you have a one-night stopover in Tokyo or an early morning flight out of the city, our Tokyo-Narita Airport hotels are an excellent choice. But that’s not the only reason to book them! The city of Narita, the home of the airport, is well worth a visit in itself! With ancient temples, delicious regional food, cool museums and even a little nightlife, Narita is more than a place to spend the night. Book your Tokyo-Narita hotel with us now and see a side of Tokyo a lot of tourists pass by.

In the late 60s, Tokyo’s only airport – Haneda – was becoming too crowded. The government decided to build a new international airport on farm land in Narita, 60km west of Tokyo city. Taking several years to build, the airport opened in 1978. Now it’s the main hub for international travellers in Japan, drawing about 35 million passengers a year. But while it’s tempting to jump in a cab or shuttle bus and head straight to the heart of Tokyo, you won’t regret spending time in Narita.

Check out Narita-san Shinsho-ji Temple, a Buddhist temple founded in 940 B.C. Its architecture has changed and evolved through the centuries, with a three-story pagoda built in 1712 and the Great Main Hall added in 1968. You can take a guided tour inside the temple and watch a priest perform prayers and rituals. If flying is your thing, make sure you visit the Museum of Aeronautical Sciences, just outside the airport, which charts the history of Japanese aviation with heaps of cool artifacts, including entire airplanes. You can also visit a fifth-floor observation deck with 360-degree panoramic views of the airport runway.

When you get hungry, there are stacks of options in the local shops and restaurants, from sweets made of beans to fresh unagi (eel). Walk along Omestesando Road to find over 60 restaurants with eel dishes on the menu, as well as souvenir shops and inns. If you like a drink, you can find a satisfying selection of bars around Narita, some of them catering especially to travellers and airline crew.

If you have some time to kill before your flight, Tokyo-Narita International Airport has oodles of restaurants and cafes as well as duty-free and brand shopping. Book your Tokyo-Narita Airport accommodation and a flight to Tokyo with us. Who knows? You might not even mind so much if you miss your flight out of here!
