The town’s name comes from the Aboriginal word for a "place of deep ravines". Previously known as Jordan’s Crossing, it has been a popular vacation spot for a large number of years.

There is loads of beautiful scenery to explore and admire around Bundanoon, and if you are into hiking and wildlife spotting you will certainly be in your element! The gorgeous Morton National Park should definitely be high on your list of things to do. It boasts cascading waterfalls, great walking trails, and lots of different animals and birds. For some amazing views, head to Fairy Bower or Echo Point. In the evenings, Glow Worm Glen is illuminated with the light from hundreds of glow worms and as dusk starts to fall you can see lots of kangaroos and wallabies frolicking at the edges of the town. Other activities include golfing, poking around in charming craft stores, admiring an array of interesting art, visiting historic churches, day-tripping to nearby wineries or to local regions such as Bowral and soaking up the delightful oldy-worldy atmosphere of the town. The town hosts the famous Brigadoon Festival every April, which attracts many visitors from far and wide.

Bundanoon has many great restaurants as well as laid-back pubs and chilled out cafes. If you fancy making your own food there are some beautiful picnic areas to visit. The monthly market is held on the main street at the start of each month and is well worth trekking to.

The heart of the town is easy to explore by foot, although you will probably want to rent a car or bike for places further afield. You can get here with a flight to Sydney or a flight to Newcastle, and there is lots of excellent Bundanoon accommodation just waiting for you.
