Accommodation In Tasman Peninsula

A remote paradise in the southeast of Tasmania, the Tasman Peninsula really begins at the small town of Dunalley, about 45 minutes' drive from Hobart. Take a few days off and tour the local region - there is a range of great accommodation in the Tasman Peninsula.

Take in the stunning beaches, the small settlements with only a few locals, and explore the beautiful sea cliffs and caves. This is the area Tasmanians visit while they are on holidays, so join them and soak up the natural beauty. Take a hike along Convict Trail, where savage dogs once guarded the narrow isthmus against escaping convicts. The Port Arthur Historic Site offers a marvellous insight into the early days, and the entire peninsula is dotted with ruins echoing the stories of the men who were among the hardest of convicts sent to Tasmania.

A haven for adventurers, sea kayaking, water sports and world class diving bring you face to face with graceful seahorses, kelp forests and amazing caves. Big game fishing is abundant and many tours can be booked to chase the next big fish. Or try your hand at rock climbing, abseiling, surfing or four-wheel-driving. The sea cliffs are some of the most spectacular in Australia, which you can experience by land, sea or air. There really is something for everyone!

Crescent Bay is a sparkling bowl of wild sea cradled by vast sand dunes. The Coal Mines Historic Site just past Saltwater River is beautiful but has a dark past. It once had over 600 convicts working underground, tunnelling out coal and transporting it to the jetties for shipment. Visiting the underground cells still brings a chill to your bones.

Natural wildlife is plentiful in the Tasman Peninsula. Look up at the white-breasted sea eagles, wedge tailed eagles and a huge variety of hawks and falcons., Wallabies are a common sight while walking through the bush, as are echidnas on the edge of the path. For a look up close, the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park in Taranna is a worthwhile trip.

The stunning beauty of the cliffs and the ocean makes this destination an absolute haven for a remote getaway. Book your stay with a great hotel in the Tasman Peninsula, and enjoy your stay in paradise!
